Stained Glass and Mosaic

Stained glass is decorative glass panels used in windows and interior spaces. The glass used in stained glass can be transparent or opaque with a frosted finish. By refracting light and color, stained glass creates an atmosphere in a room, adding beauty and elegance. The style and subjects of stained glass can vary, from abstract geometric designs to floral or genre scenes.

In our studio, we often use glass mosaic as a form of stained glass, by attaching pieces of colored glass onto transparent or frosted glass. This technique is called suncue.

Such stained glass pieces harmoniously complement modern interiors.

Techniques

Stained glass works can be created using various techniques, here are some of them:

Flat glass: This is the traditional technique of stained glass, where glass fragments of different colors and shapes are joined together with lead or metal profiles. Transparent glass fragments allow light to pass through, creating bright and vibrant colors.

Tiffany: This technique was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and became his signature style. It involves using small glass fragments that are joined together with copper foil and soldered with lead. The glass fragments can have different shapes and colors, creating vibrant and intricate images.
