PORTFOLIO ART IN THE INTERIOR
Apartment with CHARACTER
The apartment, according to our project, became the embodiment of Russian humor in all its glory. After the first meeting, we realized that our new clients are very creative and fun-loving people who constantly joke, love to laugh, and appreciate a relaxed atmosphere. We decided to reflect the lightness of character, broad-mindedness, and excellent sense of humor of the clients in the project, so we built the interior concept around jokes, and specifically, genuinely Russian jokes.
Style
We used 20th-century lubok pictures as wallpaper. We scanned and enlarged some of these illustrations, and then created wallpapers for the new project based on them.
The theme of Russian humor was also reflected in the decorative objects, including the main accent in the spacious living room: here, we placed a portrait of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, dressed in a Louis Vuitton bomber jacket, on the wall. For us, the image of the great Russian writer is perfect as a symbol of Russian irony - he wrote numerous satirical epigrams, the sharpness of which can be envied by our contemporaries. In addition, Pushkin was a well-known dandy who frequently attended social events.
Another design joke is the table, the base of which is made of beer cans - an indispensable item at parties. In addition to the table, the bright African wooden statue, painted in the style of Dymkovo toys, draws attention in the living room - another decorative object that refers to Russian style.
In the niches in the bedroom next to the fireplace, we placed sculptural works by Yuri Khorovsky. The clients' passion for contemporary art is also reflected in other areas: in the rooms, you can see works by contemporary artists Rostan Tavasiev, Tatiana Antoshina, and the art group "Blue Noses". The irony of contemporary artists is somewhat a continuation of the humor of the artists who created lubok pictures at the beginning of the last century. We also did not forget about the images of the clients themselves: they reminded us of the characters from the animated series "Beavis and Butt-Head", so an installation with the image of these characters appeared in the bedroom.
